A ‘User Agent Faker’ Tweak For iPhone
Monsta'd on January 6th, 2011Here's another cool Cydia tweak for the iPhone/iOS that kind of falls under the alot-of-you-probably-won't-use-this category, similar to our post on the View Page Source bookmarklet. But for those of us hardcore iPhoners who want to be able to change/switch our user agent in mobile Safari, there is User Agent Faker. It's been around for a while now, and is really the only reliable tweak out there for this sort of thing.

User Agent Faker can really come in handy in situations where you can't opt out of viewing the mobile flavor of a certain website, or for web developers who want to be able to test and easily switch between the mobile/desktop versions of a site/project, on-the-fly. You can choose which user agent you'd like to use right in Settings.app... there's no separate icon. You can also enable UAF to work in other apps that incorporate a web browser, such as Twitter for iPhone. This slick hack is available as a free Mobile Substrate extension in Cydia, via BigBoss!

This app does NOT work all the time.
